1. Who we are and how to contact us

J K Maths Tutoring Ltd provides one-to-one and small-group mathematics tuition in Coventry and online across the United Kingdom.

We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer, as we are not required to do so under Article 37 of the UK GDPR. Enquiries are handled directly by the company.

2. What personal data we collect

We only collect what we need in order to reply to you and to teach.

Where a student is under 18, the contracting party and main point of contact is the parent or guardian. We ask for the minimum information about the student needed to teach them, and we do not ask children to submit anything through this website.

3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis

Under Article 6 of the UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for each use of your data. Ours are:

We do not use your data for marketing, we do not build profiles, and we do not carry out any automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

4. How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don’t become tuition: deleted within 12 months of the last message between us.
• Student records and progress notes: kept while we are teaching the student, then for 24 months afterwards in case they come back to us, then deleted.
• Invoices and accounting records: kept for 6 complete financial years after the year they relate to, because HMRC and the Companies Act 2006 require it.
• Your cookie preference: stored in your own browser until you clear your browser data. It never reaches our servers.
• Server logs: retained by our hosting provider for a short period under their standard security policy, then overwritten.

5. Who else sees your data

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

A small number of service providers process data on our behalf, each under a written contract that restricts them to our instructions:

This website also loads two third-party resources in your browser: web fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) and the GSAP animation library from Cloudflare cdnjs. Neither sets a cookie, but both necessarily receive your IP address in order to serve the file. The “Open in Maps” link on the contact section is an ordinary outbound link — nothing from Google Maps is loaded into this page unless you click it.

We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, for example to HMRC, a court, or a safeguarding authority where there is a genuine concern about a child’s welfare.

6. Transfers outside the UK

Our own records are held in the United Kingdom. The two third-party resources named above (Google Fonts and Cloudflare cdnjs) operate global networks, so serving those files may involve processing outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. If you would prefer not to load these resources, most browsers and privacy extensions can block them; the site will still work.

7. How we keep it safe

Enquiries and correspondence are held in password-protected accounts with two-factor authentication. Devices are encrypted and locked. Paper worksheets carrying a student’s name are stored securely at the registered office and shredded when no longer needed. Access is limited to the tutor delivering the sessions.

8. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Be informed about how we use your data — that is what this document is for.
• Access the personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy of it.
• Rectification — have inaccurate data corrected and incomplete data completed.
• Erasure — ask us to delete your data where we no longer need it. This does not override our legal duty to keep accounting records.
• Restrict processing while a dispute about accuracy or legitimate interests is resolved.
• Data portability — receive the data you gave us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
• Object to processing carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

Withdrawing your cookie consent

To change your cookie choice on this site, clear the site data for mathstutoring.uk in your browser settings and reload the page; the banner will appear again. Because no analytics or tracking scripts are in use, declining changes nothing about what is loaded — it simply records your preference for the future.

How to exercise your rights

Email [email protected] or write to the registered office address above. We will respond within one month of receiving your request, as required by Article 12 of the UK GDPR. Complex requests may take up to two further months, in which case we will tell you why within the first month. There is no charge unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please tell us first — it is usually the quickest way to put something right. You also have the right to complain at any time to the UK supervisory authority:

If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Where a change is significant — for example if we started using analytics — we will say so clearly on the site rather than quietly amending the text.
